    Job Announcement: Air Quality Project Coordinator
    Physicians for Social Responsibility – Los Angeles (PSR-LA) is seeking an Air Quality Project coordinator This is a new position with the Manager of Health and Environment Programs to ensure the coordination and execution of multiple air quality projects grants. This position integrates our work on local air quality and climate health and justice work.

    Responsibilities:
    Project Coordinator will ensure the implementation of PSR-LA’s air quality projects focused on addressing air pollution and climate change impacts in South LA. The candidate will work closely with community-based organizations, community residents, regulatory agencies, City and State government officials, and other stakeholders to develop and implement air improvement policies and build community power to ensure proper implementation of air quality regulations. The position will support community-based organizations in the coordination of preparing action plans, conducting community outreach and engagement, developing and fostering relationships with South LA-based organizations, and identifying developing educational materials for projects and grants implementation and policy advocacy. The candidate will also be responsible for the daily administrative tasks of organizing meetings, setting agendas, and project planning implementation.

    The Air Quality project coordinator will assist in the development of program content, support in the preparation of summaries of technical documents, presentations, air quality/climate data, tools, and will communicate with the broader community and engage with partners and other stakeholders to support PSR-LAs goals. This individual will also work under the supervision of the Manager of Health and Environment Programs to develop work plans and implementation strategies for PSR-LA’s air quality and climate policy advocacy, extreme heat and air pollution grant, and our community air quality grants, which are in alignment with PSR-LA’s mission and vision.

    Qualifications/Skills:
    Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public health, public policy, or a related community health or environmental science field; work experience in these fields will be considered in lieu of a degree
    Knowledge of Air Quality issues including, but not limited to local environmental justice and pollution issues and climate change impacts.
    Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in project coordination, including working with and managing coalitions and experience building strong professional relationships with diverse stakeholders, and experience with government funding and reporting
    Experience in providing popular education, health education, and technical assistance to community-based organizations
    Experience working respectfully with base-building organizations
    Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with diverse audiences; capable of authoring blogs, policy briefs, and reports.
    Strong facilitation skills and the ability to address conflicts and build consensus
    Strong analytical and strategy-development skills and technologically resourceful
    Strategic, well-organized, and results-oriented
    Creative and dynamic advocacy skills
    Ability to display leadership and nurture leadership in others
    Commitment to public health and social, environmental, and racial justice
    Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and the medical and public health community
    Ability to work as part of a fast-paced, close-knit team and individually.
    Preferred conversational fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish

    Employment Status: This is a Grant funded position for 2 years with a potential for continued employment dependent on funding. (Full-Time Exempt Salaried)

    Location: This position is based in Los Angeles, CA. We are working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and anticipate that in the future, PSR-LA will continue with a hybrid office structure. However, qualified applicants should reside in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and be able to work and attend meetings in the Los Angeles region.

    Compensation: Salary ranging from $65,000- $78,000 based on experience.
