Join me in moving for cancer prevention this April during National Minority Cancer Awareness Week (April 16-22) ending on Earth Day (April 22)!
Like you, I have known many friends, family members, colleagues, children, and acquaintances over the years with cancer diagnoses and have watched many pass too soon. Through my work as the Communications Manager at Cancer Free Economy Network I have learned of the many ways the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the products we use, and the environments we live, work, and play in have been polluted by industry and lack of government oversight, with virtually no testing of chemicals before they are granted permission for mass production, which has contributed to significant toxic accumulation in our bodies and the continued rise in cancer rates.
Unfortunately, cancer-causing chemicals are everywhere, but it doesn't have to be this way. Through advocacy, policy changes, as well as buyer demand and awareness campaigns, organizations and individuals can collectively make a difference. For example, many CFE member organizations were part of a multi-stakeholder cross-sector demand that the EPA set stricter PFAS 'forever chemical' water standards, and just last month they announced a plan to do that! We can win if we work together!
Join me today in supporting the MOVE4CancerPrevention with a contribution so that CFE and the 60+ nonprofit organizations we bring together and work with can continue to do the good work of making communities across the US, including yours, safer.
